Disappearing Landscape Photography

Taking the audience on a wondrous wilderness trip, photographer Alaa Taher shows us the stunning landscape and curious wildlife in danger in his Antarctic photo series.

With global warming causing havoc on Antarctic’s nature, the wildlife enthusiast wanted to make sure he was able to document what was left of the grandeur white landscape and its inhabitants before it started to disappear. Embarking on a strenuous 10-day trip to get to the Antarctic Peninsula, Taher had to cross the infamous Cape Horn to get to his destination to capture these poignant images.

Having no other choice but to capture all his shots with a gloomy feel for ‘The Antarctic Escape’ — due to the sun’s inability to penetrate the always-cloudy sky — the Antarctic photo series shows us what life is really like there without any bells or whistles.
